Where can I see the Stations of the Cross in person?

The first commission for the Stations of the Cross  came from businessman and philanthropist Joe Ricketts for his Cloisters on the Platte Retreat Center just south of Omaha, Nebraska near Gretna.   The Stations of the Cross walk is 2,500 feet long (not quite .5 mile), roughly the distance that Christ carried his cross from Jerusalem to Golgotha — the place of his crucifixion.

The Cloisters on the Platte opened the Stations of the Cross installation and tour to the public on July 23, 2018.
The Stations of the Cross installed at this location is open to the public:
Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Parking is available off Fishery Road in Gretna.
There is a suggested $10 donation which includes a self-guided audio tour.
To confirm visitor information, please visit: The Cloisters on the Platte.

How big are the Stations of the Cross?

The Stations of the Cross were cast in larger-than-life approximately 7′ size.  There are 54 adult figures, 4 children, and 3 animals; including 14 depictions of Christ and 14 crosses.

Are the Stations of the Cross sculptures available for sale?

Yes, they are! The Stations of the Cross sculptures were made available for sale in March 2019 in the following sizes:

  • Larger-Than-Lifesize: approx 7′ figures
  • 1/2 Lifesize: 3′ figures
  • 1/4 Lifesize: 18″ figures
  • High bas-relief plaques, approx. 30″x30″

Sculptures are available in sets of 14 Stations of the Cross (or can be slightly altered in number to meet your church’s Station requirements), or on a limited basis can be ordered as a single station or figure.

Due to the size, scope and detail of these works, it is only possible to produce a very few of these sets each year.  Sets will be sold via reservation by calendar year on a first come, first served basis.

Reserve your year with your deposit today!  Or give us a call and ask any questions and request our 32-page color brochure and commemorative Station XIV coin box.
